Avast! Antivirus 5.1 comes in 3 flavors - Free Antivirus, Pro Antivirus and Internet Security targeting the end user, and Managed Pro Antivirus, Managed Internet Security targeting the business market segment.

Key feature of the Avast! Antivius 5.1 is a new management system for SMBs, relying on a Web-based management console.

Related new featured would include: Full control over the avast installations, immediate alerting in case of an infection, as well as remote installation and centralized updating.

The advanced features would include: Auto-discovery of new/unprotected computers, as well as configuration for a computer can be inherited or defined autonomously.

Localization has also been taken into consideration, with the management console translated to 8 different languages.

Avast! Antivirus version 5.1 is based on .NET framework 4.0, SQL Server 2008 and runs on IIS, with the management console using Silverlight 4.0.

In comparison to Avast! Antivirus version 5.0, 5.1 includes an improved 64-bit support, and improved Behavior Shield that according to the company results in better handling of false positives.

Key components from 5.0 are also included, such as Web shield + Network shield, Sandboxing, Mail shield and P2P/IM shields.

Avast! Antivirus version 5.1 is scheduled for release in Q4, 2010, with the beta to be released in September, 2010.
